Pars Today — Three senior U.S. Catholic cardinals have issued a statement urging the administration of Donald Trump to adopt an ethically guided approach in global affairs.

Cardinals Robert McElroy (Washington), Blase Cupich (Chicago), and Joseph Tobin (Newark) expressed concern on Monday over developments in Venezuela, Ukraine, and Greenland, emphasizing that U.S. foreign policy should be grounded in moral and humanitarian principles.

Referring to the Pope’s warnings about the “lust for war” and the erosion of respect for borders since World War II, the cardinals cautioned that America’s moral role in the world is under scrutiny and that peace-promoting efforts are being affected by partisan polarization.
