Senior Iranian diplomat: West not ready for negotiations / Snapback's negative effects contained

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister
Pars Today – The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran said on Sunday that the other side (the Western countries) “must reach a readiness for negotiations, and at the moment they are not prepared.” He added: “Officials and the relevant institutions worked to contain the negative effects of the snapback mechanism, and it was as a result of this containment that the Western countries turned to pursuing a resolution at the IAEA.”
According to Pars Today, at a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently emphasized its commitment to dialogue and constructive engagement with the international community, the remarks of Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, once again underscored Iran’s rightful position in the face of the West’s unfair and unilateral policies.
Gharibabadi, speaking on the sidelines of the conference “International Law Under Attack: Aggression and Defense,” held at the Institute for Political and International Studies of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, emphasized that “negotiation is a two-way process, not an imposition of demands.”
He stressed that Iran has never walked away from the negotiating table and has always been ready for fair and respectful dialogue.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister added that, in contrast, Western countries not only lack the necessary readiness for genuine negotiations, but are also trying to pressure Iran through measures such as the unlawful activation of the snapback mechanism and efforts to pass politically motivated resolutions at the Board of Governors. He noted that the majority of the international community — including the 121 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement and two permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and Russia — have not supported these actions, which is a clear indication of the failure of the West’s coercive diplomacy.
Gharibabadi also referred to domestic efforts to contain the negative effects of the snapback mechanism and stressed that, despite attacks on its peaceful nuclear facilities, Iran has continued its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. However, he noted that the West’s disregard for this cooperation and its focus on political pressure reveal the hidden objectives of the Western countries.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister concluded by saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran, with prudence and foresight and while upholding its principles, is prepared to enter into genuine negotiations if the other parties change their approach.
