Pars Today– The US President, following the failure of negotiations with Tehran and gambling on the "world's energy artery," ordered a complete blockade of Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz.

Analysts believe there are four major reasons that will thwart Trump's dream of a naval blockade of Iran.

The first reason for the failure of Trump's plan is the global energy crisis and domestic pressure. Immediately after the announcement of US naval control over the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices rose above $100. This plan will exacerbate the crisis in global energy markets and will not only fail to curb the rising trend of oil and fuel prices but will also increase the level of geopolitical risks. This price increase will intensify public pressure within the US against Trump.

The second reason relates to strong international opposition to Trump's plan to blockade Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, as this became evident in the immediate reactions of world leaders. These include the heads of the European Union and the remarks of Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, who emphasized that his country will not be drawn into a war with Iran, regardless of the pressure. China also called for no disruption to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and Russia, criticizing Trump's decision to blockade the strait, considered it a factor harming global markets. Other countries, such as Turkey, have also joined the ranks of opponents.

The third reason is that Iran has other ports through which it can export its oil and various goods. Although ports are the backbone of Iran's economy and more than 90% of Iran's foreign trade passes through them, Iran's long coastline, which extends over 5,800 kilometers, will thwart Trump's plan. Iran has about 30 ports that overlook not only the waters of the Gulf but also the Arabian Sea, the Sea of Oman, and the Caspian Sea. The most important of these ports include Shahid Rajaei Port in Bandar Abbas, Imam Khomeini Port, the ports of Bushehr, Chabahar, Anzali, Amirabad, Bandar Lengeh, Khorramshahr, and Shahid Bahonar. Furthermore, Iran has open land borders with Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, which are sufficient to supply the needs of the Iranian market for goods and raw materials for production.

The fourth reason is that Iran will not remain indifferent to Trump's plan for a naval blockade and the attempt to forcibly reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This is clearly evident in the threats issued by the Iranian army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against Trump's plan.
