Pars Today – Iranian president has said that the Persian Gulf is a symbol of the Iranian nation's resistance against old and new colonialists.

According to Pars Today, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, wrote in a message today, Thursday, on the occasion of National Persian Gulf Day, stating: "National Persian Gulf Day is a valuable opportunity to revisit this historical truth that this waterway is an inseparable part of Iranians' national identity and a symbol of the great Iranian nation's resistance against old and new colonialists."

In this message, Pezeshkian described the bravery of Iran's naval forces during this period as a sign of Iran's decisive role in safeguarding regional security and vital energy transit routes.

He said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the guardian of the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, remains committed to the principles of freedom of navigation and maritime safety, except for hostile countries. However, it believes that the implementation of these principles must be accompanied by respect for the Iranian nation and sovereignty, and that the responsibility for any insecurity in this waterway lies with the United States and the Zionist regime."

Pezeshkian also, referring to the shift of the enemies' pressure front to the economic and maritime arenas, described the strategy of naval blockade and creating restrictions on Iran's maritime trade as contrary to international law.
