Pars Today — Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, in a meeting with members of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, emphasized that a mechanism is being developed to manage the Strait of Hormuz and that the strait will not return to its previous conditions.
According to Pars Today, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the commission, describing today’s Monday session with Araghchi, said that the foreign minister presented a report on the activities, plans, and measures of Iran’s foreign policy apparatus during the 40-day war and in the period after it up to today—especially regarding the issue of negotiations.
Rezaei added that Araghchi stressed Iran’s position has changed significantly compared to before the 40-day war, and that Iran is now viewed as a major and important power. He said the enemy had assumed Iran had been weakened, but during this war it saw that Iran stood against the world’s largest armed force and against two nuclear powers, and thwarted them from achieving their objectives.
He said that, according to the explanations of Iran’s foreign minister, the enemy used every method to force Iran into surrender—including unrest, a coup attempt, military attack, separatist movements, and other actions—but failed. No one expected Iran to have the capability to expand the war to U.S. targets in the region and to close the Strait of Hormuz, yet Iran carried out this action with strength during the war.
Rezaei continued that Araghchi stated the tone of other countries toward Iran has changed after the war, and the region’s security doctrine has also shifted. Previously, it was based on U.S. military bases, but now that has changed, because those bases have become sources of insecurity rather than providers of security, and even contribute to instability.
He added that, according to the Iranian foreign minister, there are currently no negotiations with the enemy regarding the nuclear issue, and Iran is prepared for any scenario. He also emphasized the necessity of a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Rezaei further said that Araghchi stated a mechanism is being developed for managing the Strait of Hormuz, that the strait will not return to its previous conditions, and that hostile vessels will not be allowed to pass.
