Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister, in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, emphasized the need for China to continue its role in preventing violations of international peace and security.

According to Pars Today, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister—who has traveled to Beijing at the head of a diplomatic delegation—met on Wednesday morning with Wang Yi, Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the ruling party and China’s Foreign Minister.

During the meeting, various aspects of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries were discussed, including economic and trade issues as well as the implementation process of existing agreements.

Referring to the longstanding ties between the two great civilizations of Iran and China, Araghchi described Beijing as a close friend and strategic partner of Iran. He stressed the firm and serious determination of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to strengthen comprehensive strategic and friendly relations with China within the framework of the Iran–China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, based on mutual respect and trust. He added: “We believe the strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries will continue more strongly than before under the new circumstances.”

He elaborated on the crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime against the Iranian people and the flagrant violations of humanitarian law during the forty‑day imposed war, and he praised China’s principled stance in condemning the violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter by the U.S. and Israel, as well as Beijing’s responsible approach toward Washington’s abuse of the UN Security Council.

Araghchi said: “We hope that with the start of China’s rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, and with Beijing continuing to play an effective role, we will witness constructive developments aimed at preventing the continuation of lawlessness and violations of international peace and security.”

The Iranian foreign minister also briefed his Chinese counterpart on the latest developments related to the diplomatic process and ongoing efforts and initiatives to end the imposed war by the U.S. and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the course of Iran–U.S. negotiations mediated by Pakistan. He stressed: “Just as Iran has appeared powerful on the battlefield in defending itself and remains fully prepared to confront any ill‑intentioned act, it is also serious and steadfast in the diplomatic arena.”

The Chinese Foreign Minister, while praising the resilience and steadfastness of the Iranian people in the face of aggression—as well as Iran’s goodwill and responsible approach, particularly the efforts of his Iranian counterpart to pursue the diplomatic process and prevent further escalation in the region—emphasized China’s firm position in supporting Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security.

He stated: “China’s principled stance is opposition to the use of force and to the continuation of this illegal war, whose destructive consequences and repercussions have affected not only Iran but also all countries and nations of the region and the world.”
