FIFA confirms relocation of Iran national football team camp from the U.S to Mexico
Pars Today – The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) has confirmed that Iran’s national football team will hold its training camp during the World Cup in the border city of Tijuana, Mexico, instead of Arizona in the United States.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, the final list published by FIFA on Monday shows that Iran’s official camp location is the Centro Xoloitzcuintle in Tijuana.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also confirmed that Iran’s national team camp will be based in Mexico throughout the tournament.
Earlier, Mehdi Taj, head of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, had stated on Saturday that the team’s World Cup camp would be moved from Arizona to Tijuana. He added that the decision would help avoid complications related to U.S. visa issues and allow the team to travel directly from Iran to Mexico via Iran Air flights.
Iran will play its first two Group G matches in Los Angeles, United States, against New Zealand on June 15 and Belgium on June 21, and will then face Egypt in Seattle on June 26.
