Pars Today – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, discussing the Iran–U.S. memorandum of understanding, said that negotiations would begin at the upcoming meeting in Switzerland once the signing of the Islamabad memorandum is completed.

According to Pars Today, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with foreign ambassadors, chargé d’affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions based in Tehran, responded to an IRNA reporter’s question about the implementation details of the proportional and reciprocal steps outlined in the Islamabad memorandum, saying: “Once the signing process is completed in Switzerland, the negotiations will begin.”

He added that no discussions had yet taken place regarding details such as how long the parties would remain there or what issues would be addressed, but said that both sides had agreed that talks would start after the signing.

Takht-Ravanchi also said, in response to another question from reporters, that J. D. Vance would attend the meeting in Switzerland on behalf of the United States, while Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf would represent Iran.

Regarding ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime, Takht-Ravanchi said that one clause of the memorandum explicitly addresses the end of the war and military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon. He added that if the Israeli regime violates its commitments in this regard, the mechanism outlined in the memorandum would be activated, as the United States has committed on behalf of its partners that the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, must come to an end.
