Pars Today – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, responding to remarks by the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, said: "You proved to the world you have no business hosting an international tournament."

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Araghchi wrote on Tuesday night in response to the U.S. homeland security secretary's comments:

"Mission Accomplished," Mr. Mullin.

He continued: "You also accomplished something else: proving to the world that you have no business hosting an international tournament. Your conduct has been a masterclass for how to squander the dignity that comes with being a host."

According to the report, Markwayne Mullin, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, reacted to Iran's elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, claiming that once the result became official, he "did a happy dance."

The report adds that many interpreted these remarks as suggesting behind-the-scenes involvement by U.S. officials in Iran's elimination from the tournament.
