Pourjamshidian: Official reception of Martyr Leader in Iraq to be held with presence of PM

Pars Today – The head of Iran’s national funeral and farewell committee for the “Leader of the Islamic Revolution” said that the official reception ceremony for the body of Iran’s martyred Leader and his family will be held in Iraq with the presence of the country’s prime minister and other Iraqi officials, at one of the airports in Baghdad or Najaf.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian stated on Wednesday night in an interview with Iranian television that more than one million people have registered to travel to Iran to attend the funeral ceremony of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
He added that 120 members of the Iraqi parliament had sent a letter requesting the funeral procession of the Leader to be held in Iraq, and that Iraq’s holy shrines, the Arbaeen headquarters, and religious authority had also expressed support for participation.
He further noted that since the martyred Iranian Leader had, during his lifetime, expressed a wish to visit Karbala and Najaf, his office and the leadership approved the transfer of the body to Iraq for participation in the ceremonies.
The head of Iran’s national funeral and farewell committee for the “Leader of the Islamic Revolution” said that a committee has been formed in Iraq at the highest possible level—even above Iran’s own level—under the supervision of the Iraqi Prime Minister.
Poourjamshidian stated that the official reception ceremony in Iraq will be held with the presence of the Prime Minister and other Iraqi officials.
He added that the public ceremony in Iran will begin on Saturday morning at the Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds in Tehran, with mourners able to attend from 6 a.m. to bid farewell to the martyred Imam, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
He further noted that protocol ceremonies involving representatives from more than 45 countries—including presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and senior religious leaders—will take place on Friday.
Pourjamshidian emphasized that such an event has no precedent in Iran’s history and represents a demonstration of the country’s power and stature.
