Pezeshkian: Iran has become more united thanks to blood of martyred Leader

Pars Today – Iran’s President, while thanking the government and people of Tajikistan for their condolences and support, emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties between the two countries and called for expanding comprehensive cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Masoud Pezeshkian met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his accompanying delegation, who traveled to Tehran to attend the funeral and commemoration ceremony of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Referring to the deep historical, cultural, linguistic, and civilizational ties between the two nations, Pezeshkian said that Iran and Tajikistan are more than just friendly and neighboring countries; they are two nations sharing common cultural and identity roots. He added that Iran considers Tajikistan its second home, just as Tajikistan is regarded as a second homeland for the Iranian people.

Pezeshkian referred to the recent U.S. and Israeli attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing them as lacking any legal legitimacy and contrary to the fundamental principles of international law. He stated that during these attacks, the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, along with a number of military commanders, scientists, officials, and innocent civilians—including school students—were martyred, and parts of the country’s infrastructure were targeted, despite Iran’s good-faith efforts to resolve the concerns raised by the other side through dialogue and diplomacy.

The President of Iran also criticized the destabilizing policies of the Israeli regime in the region, saying that Israel has been one of the main sources of insecurity and tension in the Middle East from the outset, while simultaneously attempting to portray others as responsible for instability.

Referring to the objectives of those behind the recent attacks on Iran, Pezeshkian added that the adversaries had assumed that striking Iran and assassinating the Leader of the Revolution would weaken the country, but the result was only greater cohesion, solidarity, and national unity. He said the Iranian people, through their widespread participation and strong support for the country and its system, once again demonstrated national power and social cohesion.

In the meeting, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon also welcomed the growing trend in relations between the two countries, stating that cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan has expanded across all fields in recent years and that bilateral trade has seen significant growth over the past five years. However, he added that existing capacities are far greater than the current level of relations and should be utilized to further develop joint cooperation.

Rahmon also expressed Tajikistan’s readiness to expand cooperation in areas such as investment, agriculture, industry, road construction, transportation, and other economic sectors, stressing the importance of fully implementing bilateral agreements and understandings.

Referring to the recent attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President of Tajikistan described them as contrary to established international principles and rules. He said:

“I personally followed developments related to Iran day and night with concern. We consider ourselves one nation and one family with the Iranian people, and we felt that this aggression was not only against Iran, but against all of us.”

Emomali Rahmon also said that, based on his discussions with American officials, they have repeatedly emphasized that the language of force, threats, and war can never compel the Iranian nation to retreat. He described the Iranian people as a civilization-building nation with deep roots and a distinguished historical legacy in human history, noting that they have successfully overcome far greater crises throughout their history.

The President of Tajikistan described the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional stability and security as important and decisive, adding that the peoples of the region clearly understand Iran’s position in maintaining peace, security, and regional balance, and that recent developments have once again highlighted the importance of this role.

Rahmon also described Iran’s national unity, cohesion, and solidarity as its greatest asset, stating that what the Iranian people demonstrated during these difficult days showed that the real power of countries is not limited to military strength, but is rooted in national unity, shared beliefs, and the deep connection between people and their country’s destiny. He added that Tajikistan has stood by the Islamic Republic of Iran in difficult times and will continue to do so in the future.
