Funeral procession for Iran’s martyred Leader in Mashhad to begin at 2:00 p.m. thursday

Pars Today – The secretary of the committee overseeing the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Revolution said that the large crowds attending the ceremonies in Iraq caused delays to the schedule of the national committee organizing the farewell and funeral events.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, secretary of the funeral organizing committee, said that the people of Iraq created a major display of public participation during the funeral and prayer ceremonies for the martyred Leader in Najaf and Karbala, drawing large, million-strong crowds.

He stated that the heavy turnout, as seen in images from the events, led to significant congestion and consequently delayed the plans of the national committee responsible for organizing the farewell and funeral ceremonies.

Pourjamshidian added that, according to a phone conversation with the organizing committee in Iraq, the large crowds had not yet allowed for the transfer of the body of the martyred Leader to the Shrine of Imam Hussein (pbuh). For this reason, the committee in Mashhad anticipated that the arrival of the body of the martyred Leader and his family members could be delayed by several hours.

He said that, to avoid inconvenience and prolonged waiting for the public, the ceremony in Mashhad, which had initially been scheduled to begin at 6:00 or 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, would instead start at 2:00 p.m.
