Iran: United States poses serious threat to international security by violating fundamental principles of UN Charter

Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the U.S. attacks on Iran over the past 24 hours in an official statement.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, the statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry early on Monday said that the brutal attacks carried out by the United States against Iran constitute not only a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter—particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4—but also a serious threat to international peace and security. The statement added that the attacks have undermined all efforts made in recent months to reduce tensions and restore stability in West Asia.

The statement further emphasized that, although only 25 days have passed since the signing of the ceasefire agreement, the United States has openly violated nearly all of its provisions. According to the Foreign Ministry, by attacking Iran’s transportation infrastructure, fishing boats and cargo vessels, as well as meteorological facilities and buildings, the U.S. has committed the most heinous war crimes.

The statement by the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran added that the U.S. government, through its overt interference in the implementation of the measures adopted by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, has contributed to the return of insecurity in the strait and disrupted international commercial shipping.

The statement further emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reaffirming its determination to defend Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against U.S. military aggression and any other hostile party, warns against any participation in or cooperation with the aggressors.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also noted that, under international law, neighboring countries are obligated to prevent aggressor states from using their territory and facilities to carry out military attacks against Iran. It added that the origin and launching points of attacks on Iran “will constitute legitimate targets for defensive strikes by the brave armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
