Pars Today – Iran’s ambassador to Germany criticized Europe’s silence over what he described as the U.S. president’s explicit threats against Iran’s civilian infrastructure, warning that the consequences of turning a blind eye to Washington’s actions would ultimately affect Europeans themselves.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Iranian Ambassador to Germany Majid Nili wrote in a statement that the U.S. president announced in April 2026 that power plants and bridges would be targeted, and this week again spoke of attacking bridges in the following week. He said Europe’s response to these explicit threats had been silence.

Nili added that the result of this silence was the exposure of the hypocrisy and double standards of some European actors in their claims of respect for international law and humanitarian law.

The Iranian ambassador stressed that Europe’s inaction in the face of threats and attacks against civilian infrastructure would lead to the normalization of disregard for fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and would embolden rogue regimes, including Israel, to continue killings in Palestine, Lebanon, and other parts of the region.

He stated:

“The lesson that some European parties refuse to learn is that appeasement, indifference, complicit silence, and even active support contribute to keeping the flames of a fire burning — a fire whose smoke will ultimately reach them as well.”
