Pars Today — The UN Resident Coordinator in Tehran has met and held talks with the Deputy for Legal and International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Kazem Gharibabadi, the Deputy for Legal and International Affairs of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Christine Weigand, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Referring to the effects and consequences of the two recent imposed wars against the Islamic Republic of Iran, he called for a more active role by UN agencies and offices in supporting the reconstruction process, assessing the crimes and damages inflicted, realistically reflecting the human and economic impacts of the war, and mobilizing international resources and aid for reconstruction and development projects.

Christine Weigand also expressed gratitude for the views and cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing the maximum utilization of Iranian expert personnel in UN offices, and stated that the majority of staff in UN offices in Iran are Iranian nationals.

She also announced the readiness of the Resident Coordinator's office to share damage assessment information with specialized agencies, support the revision of cooperation programs in line with Iran's new circumstances, and make efforts to mobilize financial resources and secure support from development partners.
