Iran's Ambassador: Iran's actions are defensive, necessary, and in accordance with international law

Pars Today — Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations has described US actions as a serious threat to regional stability, freedom of navigation, and the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with the UN Charter, has exercised and will continue to exercise its inherent right to defend its people and sovereignty."

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, "Gholamhossein Darzi," Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN, said at a Security Council meeting on the situation in West Asia: "The United States, by deliberately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure—including schools, hospitals, medical centers, bridges, sports facilities, and other essential infrastructure in Iran—has committed grave violations of international humanitarian law, including war crimes. The attack on Minab School is a tragic and undeniable example of these crimes."

Darzi stated: "The President of the United States and other senior officials have openly acknowledged and even boasted about committing these heinous crimes. Such remarks are further evidence of their responsibility. The United States bears full international responsibility for its unlawful international acts. Those responsible for these egregious crimes will, sooner or later, be held accountable before competent international judicial bodies."

He emphasized: "No one is above international law, and there will be no impunity. The international community and the Security Council must not allow these crimes to become normalized. Silence and impunity will only encourage the repetition of such actions."

Iran's Ambassador to the UN continued: "All of Iran's actions are defensive, necessary, and in accordance with international law. The roots of the current situation are clear: the continued unlawful actions of the United States pose a serious threat to regional stability, freedom of navigation, and the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz."

He added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of Article 51 of the UN Charter, has exercised and will continue to exercise its inherent right to self-defense in order to protect its people and defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and vital national interests against the aggressive actions of the United States."
