Iran Central Bank governor holds economic talks with senior Iraqi officials

Pars Today — Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati met with Iranian traders, exporters, contractors, and businesspeople operating in Iraq as part of the first engagement of his visit to the country.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Hemmati arrived in Baghdad at the head of an economic delegation on Sunday evening. During his first program, he met with Iranian businesspeople, exporters, contractors, and economic stakeholders based in Iraq.

The meeting was held at the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad, where the participants discussed challenges and obstacles facing Iranian businesses in the Iraqi market.

Among the key issues raised were difficulties in repatriating export earnings, tariff-related problems, contractors’ outstanding payments, and the need for performance guarantees.

Hemmati stressed the importance of the Iraqi market for Iranian businesses and said the issues raised would be seriously pursued. He added that the Central Bank would work to facilitate the activities of Iranian exporters and contractors and strengthen coordination between government institutions and the private sector.
