Pars Today – The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq announced the preliminary results of the 2025 parliamentary elections. According to the results, the coalition Reconstruction and Development, close to current Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, came in first place in Baghdad Province with 411,026 votes. Results from other provinces are still being announced.

Following the 2025 parliamentary elections in Iraq, the Independent High Electoral Commission announced the preliminary results, showing that the coalition Reconstruction and Development, led by current Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, is in first place.

The coalition received 411,026 votes in Baghdad Province, securing the highest number of votes. It was followed by the Progress coalition, led by Muhammad Al-Halbousi, with 284,109 votes, and the State of Law coalition, led by Nouri Al-Maliki, with 228,244 votes, ranking second and third, respectively.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani also confirmed that his coalition, Reconstruction and Development, has secured the top position in the parliamentary elections in Iraq.

Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani stressed his decision to begin negotiations to form a strong government following his coalition’s lead in the elections. He stated: “We will consider the interests of everyone, including those who chose to boycott the elections, because Iraq belongs to everyone and will remain for everyone.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq announced the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, noting that the voting process was conducted very smoothly.

The commission reported a national turnout of 56.11%, with 48.76% participation in Baghdad.

It also emphasized that manual counting and recounting of votes were carried out carefully, and the preliminary results fully matched the recounts. However, the results are not yet final, and objections can still be filed until the official announcement.
