    Trump threatens California governor; violence against international journalists in Los Angeles protests

Pars Today- American President Donald Trump, concurrent with mounting protests against his repressive measures towards immigrants, threatened California governor of detention.

As Trump administration intensified treatment of immigrants, widespread protests have taken place in Los Angeles which have led to clashes between the police and protesters, use of tear gas by the police and detention of tens of protesters. According to Reuters, American President, Donald Trump, said on Monday that he supports detention of California Governor, Gavin Newsom, for what he described as, "his role in recent violent insurrections". In response to a question about Newsom's remarks who had said that, let the Federal State border official, Tom Homan, arrest him if he dares to, Trump said, "If I were in Tom's shoes, I would do that. I think it is great."

Clear step towards dictatorship

Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom, California Governor, said on Monday in reaction to Trump's remarks, "The president of the United States has just called for detention of an acting governor. This is the day which I hoped never to see in the US." He made it clear, "It doesn’t matter to be a Democrat or Republican; this is the course which we- as a nation- cannot cross. This is a clear step towards authoritarianism and dictatorship."

700 marines deployed to confront Los Angeles protests

On the other hand, according to IRNA, after the escalation of tensions in Los Angeles, the US military announced that it has sent 700 marines to protect the federal staff and facilities of the city. The US defense department has also approved the news and added that the move has been taken to prevent mounting threats against law enforcement forces and government buildings.

According to CNN, California attorney general has also complained against Trump. California attorney general described President Trump's deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles as, "intensification of provocative tensions heedless of the field conditions". California attorney general announced that deployment of the National Guard has gone "beyond the federal government authority" and breached the 10th amendment to the US Constitution.

Los Angeles mayor accuses Trump

According to the British daily Guardian, Karen Bass, the Los Angeles Mayor, has also accused Trump administration of using this city as "test case" for the federal government to seize power from the local and state officials. She warned the people and protesters, saying, "Protest peacefully and do not fall in Trump's trap." Karen Bass wrote on X social network, "Trump has not inherited crisis, he has created crisis."

Veterans warn Trump

In this connection, former US veterans said to Guardian that the decision to put up to 2000 soldiers under the federal control and deploying them to the streets of Los Angeles amounts to violation of the army's commitment to keep aloof from domestic politics.

US police violently confront international journalists amid protests

NBC News, also, reported on Monday that in continuation of the American police's violent confrontation with protesters, two international correspondents, including Nick Stern, British photojournalist, and Lauren Thomasi, American journalist for Australia's 9News, were hit with rubber bullets by the Los Angeles police and wounded while doing their job as correspondent.
