Pars Today – A major explosion occurred on Monday in eastern Cairo, the capital of Egypt, just before the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement summit was scheduled to take place.

Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion occurred in the military area of Hykstep near the airport on the Cairo-Ismailia road, though the cause is currently unknown. The Egyptian website Cairo 24 reported that the sounds were from construction work, which caused dust to rise rather than smoke. Other news sources claimed that, coinciding with the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement summit in Egypt on Gaza, a powerful explosion occurred at a military base in eastern Cairo.

Others suggested that the sound was caused by an industrial accident or a minor explosion inside a mine near the city of El-Obour (east of Cairo), while some speculated that the incident may have occurred on the campus of MIU University, located in the outskirts of the city.

Trump had arrived in the occupied Palestinian territories earlier on Monday for a short visit.

Ziad al-Nakhala: Release of numerous prisoners a victory for Resistance

Ziad al-Nakhala, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement and a senior resistance commander, stated that the recent release of a large number of prisoners from the resistance and the Palestinian people could not have been achieved without the struggles of the resistance fighters, their bravery on the battlefield, and the unity of the Palestinian nation.

In a statement regarding the operation to free Palestinian prisoners, al-Nakhala said: “Yes! We had hoped for even better results, but our people are well aware of the balance of power and the many factors that, in particular, surrounded the people of Gaza.”

Hamas: Mediators should monitor occupiers’ actions

Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for the Hamas movement, said on Monday in a statement that mediators should closely monitor the actions of the occupying regime and ensure that attacks on Gaza do not resume.

Additionally, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, stated that Gaza and the Resistance have imposed these terms, which include ending the war and facilitating a prisoner exchange.
