Pars Today — A former U.S. Deputy Treasury official stated that the Iron Dome system was ineffective against Iranian missile attacks.

According to Pars Today, Paul Craig Roberts, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury and a prominent critic of Washington’s policies, said in an interview with Press TV—in response to the recent Israeli attack on Iran and the inability of the regime’s defense system to withstand Iran’s missile strikes:

“I was surprised that Iran did not make greater use of the Iron Dome’s ineffectiveness, as it was unable to intercept Iran’s attacks. Iran could have continued the assault and destroyed Israel.”

Roberts, noting that Israel had requested a ceasefire through the United States, added:

“A ceasefire is usually proposed by the side that is losing its military advantage. In this case, Israel was able to gain an opportunity to recover by requesting a ceasefire. By accepting this pause, Iran gave Israel time to rebuild.”

He emphasized that Iran’s actions demonstrated its ability to disable Israel’s defense systems and that, had it continued its attack, it could have caused serious damage or even the complete destruction of Israel.

Israel’s influence on U.S. foreign policy

“In Washington, Israeli lobby groups are the most powerful political forces and have complete control over West Asia policy. Even Donald Trump could not resist their pressure. Trump’s attack on Iran was carried out at Israel’s request.”

He further stated: “In the United States, West Asia policy is shaped around Israel’s interests. Despite his anti-war slogans, Trump in practice implemented the policies desired by Tel Aviv.”
