Iranian researchers among the winners of the Global Fundamental Physics Prize
Pars Today — Iranian researchers have been named among the winners of the Global Fundamental Physics Prize.
The prestigious Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for 2025 has been awarded to the CMS international collaboration at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). According to Pars Today, this global award honors the collaboration’s outstanding achievements in studying rare processes, which have led to a deeper understanding of the structure of nature at the smallest scales.
Among the recipients are researchers from the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM) in Iran, who, as active members of the CMS collaboration, are recognized as part of this esteemed international award. This honor reflects years of sustained scientific, technical, and operational efforts by the Iranian CMS team at one of the world’s most advanced scientific laboratories.
Widespread Australian protests against Isaac Herzog’s visit to the country
In other news, thousands of people in Sydney and Melbourne protested against the official visit of Isaac Herzog, headof the Israeli regime, to Australia. In Sydney, police used pepper spray to disperse demonstrators, and several were arrested. Despite judicial and security restrictions in Australia, these protests reflect growing public dissatisfaction with Herzog’s visit.
Naim Qassem: With perseverance, there is no defeat
From Lebanon, Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, said in a speech at the inauguration of the Lebanon Medical Center: “With perseverance, there is no defeat.” He added that Lebanon has significant potential at the popular, geographic, and practical levels, giving it the capacity to become an advanced country. Sheikh Qassem emphasized that the main challenge Lebanon faces comes from the attacks of Israel and the United States. He described Lebanon as a very important country, having maintained its independence, reclaimed its territories, and become a model of sacrifice and devotion. Sheikh Qassem stressed: “Through solidarity, strength, and perseverance, we restrain the enemy. Resistance, its people, and those with it have protected Lebanon for 42 years.”
Russia: Human Rights Council has become a political body
Continuing the criticisms from independent countries over the inaction of international organizations, Gennady Gatilov, Russia’s permanent representative at the United Nations office in Geneva, said that the Human Rights Council has become one of the most controversial and politicized UN bodies. He added that, due to the efforts of the West and its allies—who form the majority in the council—this human rights body has turned into a platform for political score-settling under the pretext of human rights, aimed at smearing countries deemed “undesirable”.
Joint statement by 8 Islamic countries condemning Israel’s illegal actions
The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar strongly condemned Israel’s illegal decisions and actions aimed at imposing illegitimate sovereignty, consolidating settlement activities, and implementing a new law in the West Bank designed to accelerate efforts for illegal annexation and the displacement of the Palestinian people. They emphasized that the Israeli regime has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories. The foreign ministers of these eight Arab and Islamic countries warned against Israel’s ongoing expansionist policies and illegal measures in the occupied West Bank, which fuel violence and conflict in the region.
