Pars Today- The Washington Post considers the recent ceremony transferring the bodies of six US soldiers killed in a provocative operation against Iran as a sign that this war is going badly for the country’s president.
At a ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, US President Donald Trump met on Saturday with the families of six US Army Reserve soldiers who were killed in an Iranian drone strike at their deployment location in Kuwait.
According to Pars Today citing ISNA, the American newspaper “The Washington Post” views the ceremony transferring the bodies of six US military personnel killed in a provocative operation against Iran as an indication that this war is going badly for Donald Trump, sounding the alarm about the continued killing of American soldiers and Washington’s entanglement in another quagmire war in West Asia.
In an article titled “The Return of American Bodies Killed in the War with Iran is a Sign of Trump Facing the Bad Part of War,” The Washington Post wrote: "This is the opening chapter of an escalating war that is turning the tide against the American people and Trump’s presidency. The outcome of this war remains unclear."
The newspaper added: "Trump’s contradictory positions regarding the operations against Iran indicate that he himself is uncertain about the outcome of this war. For example, the US president claimed on Saturday that this war would be a “short” battle lasting only a few weeks, while simultaneously leaving open the possibility of the war being prolonged.
At the Dover Air Force Base ceremony, in front of the coffins of American soldiers killed in the war with Iran, Trump saluted the bodies six times. Standing next to a military transport plane and saluting the flag-draped coffins, he said briefly: “I hate doing it, but it’s part of war.” However, this scene, according to many observers, was a reminder of the “dark side of war.”
Now, many analysts and members of the US Congress warn that if the current path continues, this may only be the beginning of more coffins returning home. Critics believe it is time for Congress and American public opinion to raise more serious questions about the continuation of this war before its human cost becomes heavier.
