Pars Today – US officials have acknowledged a significant depletion of the country’s military stockpiles in West Asia amid the ongoing war with Iran, raising concerns about the sustainability of Washington’s operations in the region.
Military experts warn that if the conflict continues, the US will soon face shortages of munitions and increasing wear on its missile defense systems.
According to The Washington Post citing American defense sources, the US military expended $5.6 billion worth of ammunition within the first two days of its campaign against Iran.
The report adds that the Pentagon has resorted to using Patriot missile systems stationed across the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and plans to redeploy part of its THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system from South Korea to the West Asia region.
Meanwhile, the Politico website reported that several Democratic senators have demanded a public hearing on what they described as an unnecessary war against Iran. They called for War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to appear before Congress immediately to explain the administration’s rationale.
According to the website, Senate Democrats have also warned that if these top officials are not summoned, they will move to reopen debate and force new votes on war‑powers legislation, underscoring growing unease within Congress over the scope and purpose of the US military campaign.
