ParsToday - US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, after a secret briefing by officials from the administration of President Donald Trump regarding military aggression against Iran, criticized the administration's approach and stated: "We will not achieve any of our declared objectives in the war against Iran."

According to ParsToday, citing IRNA, US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said on Tuesday night local time, on the eleventh day of the aggression by the US and the Zionist regime against Iran: "I came out of a two-hour secret, closed-door meeting about the war. This meeting only confirmed that this war is completely chaotic and lacks coherence, and their (US) plan was so incoherent that it's clear the Trump administration will not achieve any of its declared goals."
Chris Murphy added: "We already knew that US airstrikes could not destroy Iran's nuclear program." Murphy continued: "There is practically no way we can destroy Iran's nuclear program because most of it is underground, unless we launch a ground invasion – which would be even more catastrophic and unpopular."

The Senator from Connecticut, USA, further stated: "The Trump administration confirmed that 'regime change' is also not on the agenda, therefore, hundreds of billions of dollars of your taxes will be spent, and a large number of Americans will be killed." Murphy clarified: "So what are the real objectives? It seems to be mainly the destruction of a large number of missiles, naval vessels, and drone factories. But the challenging question was, what happens when the bombing stops and they resume production? They referred to more bombing, which of course is an endless war."

Regarding Iran's potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the Democratic US Senator said: "The Trump administration had no plan. I cannot provide more details on how it is blocked, but I can say that currently, the US administration does not know how to reopen it safely, which is unforgivable because this part of the crisis was 100% predictable."

The joint military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, following which the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei, was martyred, began at dawn on February 28, 2026. This action took place while indirect negotiations between Iran and the US were underway with the mediation of some regional countries.

Analysts believe this action demonstrated that the US, in practice, lacks the necessary commitment to the principles of dialogue, confidence-building, and peaceful resolution of discords, and continues to utilize the military option as a tool for political pressure.

In response to the commencement of the joint military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran delivered a decisive, targeted, and proportionate response. Within the framework of this legitimate response, the military and security positions of the Zionist regime in various cities of occupied Palestine, as well as the bases and deployment centers of American forces in the region, were precisely targeted with missile, drone, and aerial attacks.

Official representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran have emphasized that these operations were carried out within the framework of the inherent right to legitimate defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, with the aim of deterrence, preventing the continuation of aggression, and imposing costs on the aggressors.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has warned that any continuation or expansion of aggression will be met with a harsher and broader response.
