Pars Today – A senior member of the U.S. House of Representatives described a naval blockade against Iran as an act of war and said Donald Trump has become trapped by Tehran.

According to Pars Today, Adam Smith, the Democratic representative from Washington state and the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, told NBC News:

“Donald Trump’s shift in approach from bombing to a naval blockade has not brought the United States any closer to ending the conflict. We are trapped, because Iran does not want to negotiate over what we want.”

The Washington state lawmaker added:

“Trump initially believed that four to six weeks of bombing would force Iran to surrender, but that outcome never materialized.”

U.S. Senator: Trump administration is lying

Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the cost of the U.S. war against Iran, saying the Trump administration is lying about the expenses of the conflict.

Sanders noted that the Trump administration claims the aggression against Iran has so far cost the U.S. military $25 billion, writing: “This is a lie.”

The U.S. senator further stated that the war could cost more than $1 trillion, adding that this would mean thousands of dollars in additional costs for every American family.

U.S. Congressman: Trump is dangerous for U.S. national security

Meanwhile, Seth Moulton, a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, criticized President Donald Trump’s actions in the war against Iran, stressing that Trump is dangerous for U.S. national security.

Referring to Trump’s old age, Moulton said: “Whether we like it or not, everyone loses some of their effectiveness at this age, and that is very dangerous.”

Decline in U.S. employment rate following war against Iran

Meanwhile, the U.S. news network ABC reported, citing data from the Trump administration, that hiring slowed in April of this year due to rising fuel prices resulting from the war against Iran.

According to the ABC report, the U.S. economy created 115,000 new jobs in April, a significant decline compared to 185,000 jobs added in March.
