Mearsheimer: Washington failed to achieve any of its objectives in war against Iran

Pars Today – An American political scientist has described Washington's performance in the war against Iran as a "catastrophic failure," arguing that the United States failed to achieve any of its strategic objectives and instead suffered significant damage to its military position, regional alliances, and economic interests.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, John Mearsheimer, an American political scientist, said in an interview with the Uncensored program that the United States suffered a devastating defeat in the war against Iran and failed to accomplish any of the goals it had set at the outset of the operation.

Mearsheimer said Washington entered the conflict with four objectives: to bring about regime change in Iran, eliminate Iran's uranium enrichment capability, end Tehran's support for Yemen's Ansarullah movement, Lebanon's Hezbollah, and Hamas, and halt Iran's long-range missile program. According to him, the United States failed to achieve all four objectives.

He further argued that U.S. military infrastructure in the region had been damaged, Washington's network of alliances in West Asia had been weakened, and the global economy could face a serious crisis in the near future.

Mearsheimer concluded by saying that no alternative strategy has yet been presented to enable the United States to exit the current situation, adding that the crisis has no military solution.
