Pars Today – Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Taliban government, welcomed recent remarks by Seyed Hassan Mortazavi, Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan, and stressed that Kabul also respects Iran’s independence and internal affairs.

Two days ago, Seyed Hassan Mortazavi, Deputy Head of the Iranian Embassy in Afghanistan, said during a ceremony honoring Afghan futsal champions that Iran does not support any group seeking to create divisions among Muslims and believes that Afghanistan’s future should be determined through dialogue, understanding, and the joint participation of Afghans.

Reacting to these remarks, Zabihullah Mujahid said in an exclusive interview with Iran’s Pashto-language radio:

“An atmosphere of trust and credibility between nations is created when countries truly refrain from interfering and intervening in the affairs of other countries. Mr. Mortazavi’s remarks, as the deputy ambassador, were commendable. They adopted a positive stance regarding Afghanistan, and we hope that this position will always remain consistent in their fundamental policies.”

Mujahid added that Afghanistan also respects the independence and internal affairs of its brotherly country, Iran, and seeks peace, security, and stability in Iran while cooperating in this regard.

In support of other remarks by Iran’s deputy ambassador, he said it was a positive view to adopt a clear stance against divisions, instability, and insecurity among Muslims. According to him, the Islamic world can succeed when it has no internal disputes.

Regarding Seyed Hassan Mortazavi’s remarks that Afghanistan’s future destiny belongs to the people of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid said:

“Undoubtedly, the future of every country belongs to the people of that country. We had and still have the same expectation from the Islamic Republic of Iran: that it respects the interests, rights, and independence of the Afghan people. The Islamic Emirate also holds this position, and we hope this stance will continue and pave the way for long-term relations and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.”

Iran’s deputy ambassador to Afghanistan had previously said that Iran has always encouraged all political and social groups in Afghanistan to pursue unity, coordination, and the preservation of national unity.

In this regard, Zabihullah Mujahid told Iran’s Pashto-language radio that unity and solidarity among nations is a major responsibility, stressing that the Islamic Emirate is also making every effort to ensure that the Afghan nation remains united and cohesive.

He added: “With groups, factions, and movements that seek to divide our country into ethnic groups, different currents, and various ideological perspectives, efforts should be made to cut ties with them. Afghanistan needs ideological unity, physical unity, unity of position, and national unity, and we have taken fundamental steps in this regard. Muslim countries and Muslim nations should also cooperate with the Afghan people.”
