Trump threatens lengthy prison terms for U.S. journalists over leaked reports

Pars Today – U.S. President Donald Trump, angered by reports in American media about shortages of the country's weapons and missiles, announced that lengthy prison sentences would be imposed for "treasonous statements."

According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Trump claimed in his latest remarks that the United States possesses vast stockpiles of ammunition, particularly certain types of munitions. His comments came in response to reports by several major U.S. media outlets claiming that shortages of offensive and interceptor missiles had emerged in the U.S. arsenal as a result of the war with Iran, describing the issue as a national security crisis.

Without referring to the time required to manufacture many U.S. missiles, including THAAD and Patriot interceptors, Trump claimed that large quantities of munitions had been produced and delivered to the United States as needed.

The U.S. president also said that defense companies are working to build the largest number of factories and production facilities in the country's history.

Disregarding the principle of freedom of speech, Trump explicitly stated that Washington has begun prosecuting individuals who publish what he called "treasonous statements" and would seek to impose lengthy prison sentences on them.

CBS News recently reported, citing two informed sources, that during the war with Iran, the United States expended nearly its entire global stockpile of long-range precision-guided missiles, including all of its ATACMS missile inventory.

Earlier, CNN, citing informed sources, reported that since the beginning of the war with Iran, the U.S. military has used about 80 percent of its THAAD interceptor missile stockpile and nearly half of its Patriot missile inventory.
