Pakistan, seven Islamic countries condemn forced expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza
Pars Today — Pakistan, along with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar and the UAE, has strongly condemned statements and plans calling for the forced expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, a joint statement by the foreign ministers of the eight countries, released by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, stressed that any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians from their homeland constitutes a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as a direct threat to the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
The countries rejected any plan or effort to expel Palestinians from their homeland and warned that turning such statements into official policy or practical measures could have serious consequences for the region and jeopardize international efforts to achieve peace in Gaza.
The statement also stressed that Gaza is an integral and indivisible part of Palestinian territory.
The countries further called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to oppose any efforts to alter the geographical and demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territories and to establish new settlements, and to insist on compliance with international law.
The joint position of Pakistan and the seven Islamic countries comes as debate over the future of the Gaza Strip and plans concerning the displacement of Palestinians remains one of the main focuses of regional developments.
With this position, Pakistan has once again reaffirmed its support for the rights of the Palestinian people and its opposition to any forced displacement of Palestinians.
