Pars Today – The hostile plan by the terrorist US government against Iran has failed at the United Nations Security Council.

According to Pars Today, citing Tasnim News Agency, the US government’s attempt to extend the mandate of the team known as the experts of the Iran Sanctions Committee failed after Russia and China exercised their veto powers at the UN Security Council.

The US-drafted resolution, which sought to extend the activities of the group known as the experts of the Iran Sanctions Committee, was removed from the agenda following official vetoes by Moscow and Beijing.

China’s representative, referring to the expiration of Resolution 2231 on October 18, 2025, stressed that the Security Council had completed its consideration of Iran’s nuclear file.

Beijing, expressing explicit opposition to the US approach, stressed that the Security Council should not become a platform for advancing unilateral objectives.

China called on all parties to play a constructive role instead of taking provocative measures, in order to preserve the credibility of multilateralism and create conditions for a political resolution of Iran’s nuclear issue.

Russia’s representative to the Security Council also said that the “snapback” sanctions against Iran had no legal validity. He said: “Security Council Resolution 2231 expired on October 18, 2025, and has been removed from the agenda; therefore, holding a meeting on Thursday on this issue is entirely devoid of legal and procedural validity. We categorically reject attempts by some members to create an illusion of ‘legitimacy’ through claims concerning the ‘snapback’ mechanism — the automatic reimposition of sanctions.”

Russia voted against extending the mandate of the experts because it considers the 1737 Committee illegitimate, and stressed that no “snapback” mechanism or reinstatement of previous resolutions, including Resolutions 1737 and 1929, has taken place against Iran.

Resolution 2231 expired in October 2025, and this is an immutable legal fact that no unilateral action or partiality by the UN Secretariat can change.
