Massive fire engulfs Kabul's market
Pars Today – A massive fire broke out at a second-hand clothing market in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Sunday morning.
The blaze erupted around 9:00 a.m. local time in the Police District 5 area in western Kabul, engulfing approximately 200 shops, a shopkeeper was cited as saying in the report. Against strong winds, firefighting teams managed to bring the fire under control, a police official said.
Thick black smoke was visible several kilometers away, raising concerns among Kabul residents. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained. This was the second massive fire incident in Afghanistan in the last three weeks. Several shops were damaged when a market caught fire in northern Kunduz Province on May 16. / IRNA
