Pars Today – On Saturday, thousands of Bulgarians protested the government’s plan to replace the national currency with the euro, demanding a referendum on the issue.
The protest in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital, was organized by civil groups and nationalist parties. Protesters carried Bulgarian flags, sang nationalist songs, and chanted slogans like “Freedom for the Bulgarian lev” and “The future belongs to sovereign states.” The demonstration took place amid expectations that the European Union will give the green light for Bulgaria to join the eurozone within three days.
