Grossi: Uranium enrichment is permitted; Iran’s stockpile is not equivalent to a nuclear weapon
Pars Today – The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) emphasized that uranium enrichment is not a prohibited activity in itself, adding that the amount of enriched uranium in Iran does not constitute material sufficient for a nuclear weapon.
Speaking at a press conference in Vienna on Monday, Rafael Grossi said: “We have not claimed that Iran possesses nuclear weapons or has a militarized program.”
In response to a question about a potential IAEA Board of Governors resolution against Iran and its relation to bilateral Iran–US negotiations, Grossi stated: “There is no official, direct link between the two, but it is evident that the two processes influence one another.” (IRNA)
