Iran’s Nahid-2 telecommunication satellite successfully launched into space
Pars Today – The Islamic Republic of Iran’s telecommunication satellite “Nahid 2” was successfully launched into space from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome aboard a Soyuz rocket.
This telecommunications satellite was developed by Iranian researchers from the Space Research Center and the Iranian Space Research Institute under the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, with contributions from a network of Iranian knowledge-based companies.
Weighing around 110 kilograms, the construction and launch of this satellite marks a significant step forward in Iran’s space industry for satellite communications and the development of low-earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary (GEO) telecommunications satellite constellations.
With its placement into orbit, Iran’s indigenous space technologies for Ku-band communications are being tested operationally in orbit for the first time. (IRNA)
