Iran, Norway, Italy discuss Syria’s developments
In separate meetings in Geneva, ranking diplomats from Iran, Norway and Italy talked about the latest situation in Syrian and the ways for the political settlement of the problems.
According to Tasnim news agency, Norwegian and Italian special envoys for Syria held talks with Ali Asghar Khaji, the Iranian Foreign Minister’s Senior Advisor for Political Affairs.
The gatherings took place concurrently with the meeting of the 8th Constitutional Committee of Syria in Iran’s diplomatic mission at the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva.
In the meetings, discussions were held on the developments regarding the progress of the political process and also the humanitarian issues in Syria.
The Iranian, Norwegian and Italian diplomats have reportedly hailed Syria’s recent moves, especially the general amnesty declared by the country’s President Bashar al-Assad.
They have also underlined the need to continue and extend such measures to the other spheres and also stressed the need to alleviate the ordeal of the Syrian people, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
The activity of the Syrian Constitutional Committee as well as Syria’s economic problems and humanitarian issues were among the other topics discussed in the meetings.
