Iran urges formation of fact-finding committee on Gaza massacre
Iran's foreign minister took a swipe at the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights for obstructing the establishment of a fact-finding committee to investigate the heinous Israeli atrocities in Gaza and politicizing the issue of human rights.
According to Tasnim news agency, in a meeting with his Finnish counterpart on the sidelines of the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday night, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian decried the massacre of more than 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza by the Zionist regime.
Deploring the politicization of the issue of human rights, he said a number of countries that claim to be defenders of human rights have not allowed a fact-finding committee to be formed to probe into the horrible atrocities in Gaza.
He then pointed to plans to improve Iran’s relations with Finland, saying Tehran is ready to develop a joint road map for this purpose.
He also welcomed any effort to expand parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and proposed the holding of political consultations at the level of political directors of the foreign ministries.
For her part, Elina Valtonen welcomed the continuation of dialogue with Iran in the areas of mutual interest.
She then described the alarming humanitarian situation in Gaza as a common concern for both countries and said that Finland believes efforts must continue to prevent a human tragedy.
