Pars Today – The Islamic Republic of Iran has confiscated a US oil cargo over a lawsuit filed by the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) patients or butterfly patients, whose lives are at risk due to inhumane illegal US sanctions.

According to the reports, the confiscation took place upon a court ruling in favor of the EB patients who filed a complaint against the US at the international relations legal court (branch 55) in Tehran.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a group of rare diseases that cause the skin to blister easily. EB causes blisters, which quickly burst and leave slow-healing wounds like the one on this baby's knee. The skin blisters because it's so fragile. The patients of this rare skin disease are also called butterfly patients.

As a result of the order issued by the court, an oil cargo belonging to the US was seized from the ADVANTAGE SWEET oil tanker in the Persian Gulf.

In their compliant, the EB patients, who are characterized by extreme fragility of the skin and mechanically induced blistering, claimed damages against the US.

They said that the Western sanctions, especially those by the US, have prevented a Swedish company from selling medicines to Iran and caused severe physical and mental harm to them.

The value of the oil shipment is estimated to be more than $50 million.
