  • Iranian medicine good news for hemophilia patients

Pars Today- Specialists of an Iranian knowledge-based company succeeded in indigenizing the technical knowledge of a factor VIII new-compound medicine and launched the production line of this medicine.

This Iranian medicine, unlike famous similar samples, is not extracted from the blood plasma of healthy persons and thus does not transfer disease.

Factor VIII is used to treat patients with hemophilia A. Hemophilia A is a genetic disorder affecting the ability of body in coagulation.

According to the experts, factor VIII that used to import was extracted from healthy persons' blood plasma and incurred risks of transferring disease.  But the one which is being produced domestically is similar to the natural production of factor VIII inside body, so, it causes the least stimulation in the patient.

Factor VIII is among the list of necessary medicines of the World Health Organization (WHO) which includes the most important medication of the health system.

Pharmaceutical industry is among the industries which the Islamic Republic of Iran has highly invested in. Prior to the victory of the Islamic Revolution, only 20% of the medicine needed in Iran was produced domestically and 80% was either imported or produced in multi-national forms. But, now, 99% of Iran's medical needs is produced inside the country.

Since health industry is directly related to people's health, countries which have the upper-hand in the field are more powerful and can wield this power instrumentally whenever needed just like what the United States has been doing in imposing cruel medical sanctions on some countries.
