Pars Today - Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with the speaker and representatives of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), stressed that the shared responsibility of the elected president and the Parliament is to form an efficient, pious, and revolutionary government in Iran.
This was the first meeting between the 12th Parliament of Iran and the Leader. According to Pars Today, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted eight key points, including "the necessity of accountability in the Parliament", "constructive interaction between the Parliament and the new government", "a unified voice from the country's authorities on important issues", "the dominance of ethics in parliamentary debates and other activities", "the dos and don'ts of legislation", "supervision without extremism and leniency", "the effective activity of the supervisory board on the performance of representatives", and "the serious presence of the Parliament in global issues and foreign policy".
He expressed hope that with the shared responsibility of the elected president and the Parliament, a cabinet composed of faithful, efficient, revolutionary, and optimistic individuals, known for their honesty and sincerity, with a national outlook and deep belief in the Islamic Republic, would be formed to address the country's and people's issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei considered the success of president-elect Pezeshkian in economic, cultural, international, and other areas as a success for all, and said: "We must all help the elected President of Iran in performing their duties and truly believe that his success is a victory for all of us."
He also emphasized a crucial point about the vigilance of Iranian officials and politicians, saying: "We are aware that the 'cyber army of the common enemy of all Iranians' insults and provokes individuals and political groups, as well as religious and political figures, under the guise of fake rivals and political factions, in order to enrage and provoke the other side and elicit a response. Therefore, we should not attribute everything we see in the virtual space to our political rivals."
The leader also referred to the significant capacity of the Iranian Parliament in international issues and foreign policy, saying: "The Parliament is a heavyweight that governments around the world use in their interactions. For example, in negotiations, they use the Parliament's opposition or laws as a cover for their defense or justification."

The Leader emphasized that the Iranian Parliament can support the government in foreign policy, adding: "One of the good and effective actions of the Parliament in foreign policy is the Strategic Action Plan of the 11th Parliament."
He considered the various roles of representatives in global developments and diplomacy, such as trips and meetings of the Speaker and representatives of the Parliament, including the useful presence of the Iranian Parliament Speaker at the recent BRICS summit, to be influential, and said: "Sometimes even a single statement or speech by representatives on foreign policy issues can be important and effective."
Ayatollah Khamenei considered parliaments using the governments as a common practice in the world, and added: One example is the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act known as 'CISADA', which was approved by the US Congress and signed by the Democratic President at the time, who was more hypocritical, ill-wishing, and indeed acted more clever than our officials. He signed it despite claiming to cooperate and collaborate with Iran, and could have refused to sign it."
The Leader also pointed out the repetition of the sanctions issue during the election period by candidates and their representatives, as well as among the people, and considered the Parliament to have the possibility of activity and role-playing in this field, saying: We can overcome sanctions with dignified tools and even neutralize them, as we have said many times, lifting sanctions is not in our hands, but we must think of ways to overcome them. However, neutralizing sanctions is in our hands, and there are good ways to do so, which some government officials have taken and have had good effects. In this regard, the Parliament can also play a role.
In the final part of his speech, the Leader emphasized the issue of Gaza as the first priority of the Islamic world, adding: "Months have passed since the beginning of the evil and usurper Zionist regime's crimes, and the initial enthusiasm for condemning and confronting these crimes has decreased in some individuals, but the importance of the Gaza issue is even greater than in the early days."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the growing power of resistance, saying: "A large political, economic, and military system called America, along with the usurper Zionist regime, is fighting against a small group called the resistance, and since these two evil elements have not been able to defeat Hamas and the resistance, they are dropping their bombs on hospitals, schools, and innocent children, women, and oppressed people."
Ayatollah Khamenei, referring to the fact that today the people of the world are witnessing the utmost cruelty and savagery of the usurper Zionist regime and are judging it, addressed the representatives of the Parliament, saying: Do not remain silent about Gaza. Today, the important manifestation of the Parliament's activity in foreign policy and diplomacy is the issue of Gaza.
