Araghchi: Iran-Iraq relations at their best

Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister, who has traveled to Najaf to take part in the Arbaeen ceremony, described the recent visit of Iraq’s prime minister to Tehran as constructive and said: “Iran and Iraq have close and continuous cooperation in political, economic, and security matters.”

According to Pars Today, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, said in an interview with Iraq’s official news agency on Monday: “Today, I arrived in the holy city of Najaf and I am on my way to Karbala to participate in the Arbaeen ceremony. In Najaf, I witnessed extensive preparations and arrangements for providing services to pilgrims, and the general satisfaction with the level of services compared with previous years shows continuous progress in organizing this ceremony.”

Araghchi added: “The Arbaeen ceremony is considered a major gathering and a symbol of the unity of the Iraqi and Iranian nations, as a large portion of the participants are pilgrims from the two countries. This widespread presence demonstrates the strength of the religious and ideological bonds between the two peoples.”

Araghchi said that this solidarity had previously been demonstrated during the funeral ceremony of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, reflecting the depth of emotions and the deep-rooted unity between the two nations.

Regarding bilateral relations, Iran’s foreign minister said: “Fortunately, our relations with the Iraqi government are currently at their best, and the recent visit of Iraq’s prime minister to Tehran was accompanied by very constructive discussions.”

Referring to cooperation between the two countries, he said: “Iran and Iraq have close and continuous cooperation in various fields, including political issues and adopting joint positions on matters of mutual interest, as well as in economic and security areas, border security, organizing border trade exchanges, and developing joint transit routes.”
