Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Ecuadorian counterpart Rafael Correa in Venezuela underlined the need for the development of mutual cooperation in different fields.

During the meeting in Margarita Island, the Iranian and Ecuadorian presidents explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral relations.

"Iran and Ecuador enjoy considerable commonalities and Tehran welcomes widening of relations with Quito in all areas," President Rouhani said during the meeting on the sidelines of the 17th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in Venezuela.

Rouhani pointed to the removal of the sanctions imposed against Iran as a good opportunity for fostering mutual cooperation.

"Iran is ready to share its experiences in the areas of science, technology and energy with its friendly country of Ecuador," the Iranian president added.

The Ecuadorian president, for his part, voiced his country's willingness to further expand bilateral relations with Iran.
