  • Iran to provide 10 strategic medicines to Zimbabwe

Pars Today - Iran’s vice-president for science, technology, and knowledge-based economy announced that Iran will provide 10 strategic medicines needed by Zimbabwe.

Rouhollah Dehqani in a meeting with Zimbabwe's Minister of Science Amon Murwira in Tehran on Wednesday said that the vice presidency of science and technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran will provide Zimbabwe with its technological capacities and products in the field of medicine and medical equipment.

Dehqani added, "Tehran is fully prepared to expand its economic, scientific, and technological cooperation with various countries, especially African countries, in line with the emphasis of the Islamic Republic of Iran's present and its determination to develop cooperation in scientific and technological fields."

Dehqani pointed out that more than 90% of Iran's consumed medicines and over 70% of the country's medical equipment are produced domestically by Iranian knowledge-based companies, and announced Iran's readiness to cooperate with Zimbabwe in various fields, including the production of advanced medicines, medical equipment, and technology transfer.

Zimbabwe's Minister of Science also said during the meeting that his country has natural resources and needs to utilize science and technology to upgrade these resources into services, employment, and wealth creation. He added that Iran's scientific and technological capabilities can lead to the expansion of services, increased welfare, and progress in Zimbabwe.

Stating that Iran is a model of self-esteem and capability, Murwira added, "It is important for us to learn from Iran's experiences and use technology and innovation to bring dignity and pride to our people."
