  • Iran becomes the fourth producer of linear accelerators for cancer treatment

Pars Today - The sales manager of an Iranian knowledge-based company announced that they have negotiated with several countries, including Uganda, Syria, and Iraq, to export linear accelerators and have signed a $20 million contract with Uganda.

According to Elyasi, the sales manager of Behyar San'at Sepahan, a knowledge-based Iranian company, linear accelerators are one of the technologies used in cancer treatment, which help treat cancer by producing radiation and bombarding cancerous tumors.

Elyasi pointed out that only three countries, the US, UK, and Germany, have produced this device, and Iran is the fourth country in the world to produce it. He added that with the support of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the company was able to produce this linear accelerator within five years.

Regarding the price of this device in Iran compared to foreign samples, Elyasi said: "The price of a linear accelerator in other countries is around $3 million, and the annual maintenance cost is around $300,000, while the price of this device in Iran is under $1 million."

He also announced that they have negotiated with several countries, including Uganda, Syria, and Iraq, and have signed a $20 million contract with Uganda to export linear accelerators.

Elyasi noted that 750 people are employed in this knowledge-based company, many of whom are elites from Isfahan University of Technology, and more than 85% of the company's workforce is engaged in research and development.
