  • Arbaeen; great dignity for Islamic world, messenger of unity and movement

Pars Today- Chancellor of Lorestan university believes that Hosseini movement in Arbaeen is the point of unity for the Islamic world.

Dr. Ali Nazari, Chancellor of Lorestan university said that Arbaeen is one of the greatest spiritual manifestations of the Islamic Ummah. According to Pars Today, Nazari had an interview with ISNA news agency, in which he explained some of the aspects of this great divine and human movement. Below are excerpts of his views.

Dr. Nazari said on the journey of the lovers of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) to Karbala:

"Arbaeen is a journey which begins from the depth of heart. Pilgrims take each step towards Aba Abdillah with a deep love."

He stressed that this glorious march creates dignity for the world of Islam and said:

"The broad presence of nations in this spiritual ceremony has horrified the enemies. They try to make this presence insignificant, but what can be clearly seen is the huge mass of pilgrims in the course of Karbala."

He added:

"In the march of Arbaeen, the support for the innocent people of Palestine and Gaza is demonstrated more than ever. Pilgrims, holding pictures of martyrs of the resistance front and the Palestinian flag, convey the message of support for the innocent in the world."

The chancellor of Lorestan university reiterated:

"The Hosseini movement in Arbaeen is the point of unity in the Islamic world. Different nations from across the world gather around Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) and show that the Master of martyrs is the axis of unity."

Referring to the role of this spiritual movement in countering the enemies of Islam, Nazari said:

"The pure blood of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) is so warm that it eases the tolerance of hardships in this journey, including hot weather."

He continued that the global unity shaped in this ceremony displays the beautiful scene of unity in the 80-kilometer long road [from Najaf] to Karbala.

Nazai added:

"This march is the manifestation of self-sacrifice of the Shia people of Iraq as the hosts who vest the pilgrims with all their properties."

The chancellor of Lorestan university concluded his remarks, saying, "The grandeur of Arbaeen of Hossein has infuriated the enemies. God says that Muslims should be in a course which angers the enemies and Arbaeen is an obvious example of this show of power of the Islamic world against the enemies."

Arbaeen

Arbaeen is an Arabic word meaning fortieth. But in Islam it refers to a religious ceremony to commemorate the 40th day of martyrdom of Imam Hossein (Peace upon him). This day falls on the 20th of the Islamic month of Safar. As you know Imam Hossein was the grandson of the Prophet of Islam and the son of Imam Ali and Lady Fatimah (Peace upon them).

The lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (Peace upon them) flock to Karbala from different countries on this day for pilgrimage of the shrine of the Master of martyrs.

Imam Hossein (Peace upon him) was the third Infallible Successor of the Prophet and the third Imam who was martyred in Karbala on the day of Ashura, 61 AH (August 7, 621 AD) alongside 72 loyal companions by the hordes of the Yazid, the notoriously licentious son of Muawiyah. Now, after the lapse of nearly 14 centuries, the lovers of Ahl al-Bayt start marching towards Karbala several days before Arbaeen. This is certainly the greatest and most populous march and gathering in the history of mankind as it is estimated that at least 20 million people converge in the ceremony, and this number increases every year.
