Pars Today - The Zionist regime is not only facing an unprecedented increase of sanctions against the universities and scientific centers affiliated to the regime, but also these sanctions have spread to the Western companies which used to have military and arms cooperation with Israel.

Amnesty International, in a statement, called on the European countries to embark on arms sanction against the Zionist regime. According to Pars Today, the statement says that these sanctions should include both the sending of arms and goods which is used in the chain of arms production.

With the start of the war in Gaza after Operation al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, the fake Zionist regime launched a series of unprecedented crimes against the innocent people of Gaza and unleashed a true genocide in the region through imposition of famine. This caused a movement of sanction against the regime in many countries so that many institutions and countries have called for arms boycotting of the illegitimate regime.

However, the US as the main supporter and partner-in-crime of Israel and a few European countries, such as Germany, have adamantly ignored this call. For sure, many people in Europe are strongly opposed to the Zionist regime. This can be clearly seen in their massive demonstrations, gatherings and sit-ins calling for the end of the Israeli atrocities and starting of relief operations and sending aid to the people of Gaza.

Michael Fakhri, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, said in mid-June, 2024, "What we need now is to enforce economic and political sanctions against Israel."

Fakhri's emphasis on the need for economic and political boycotting of Israel is the result of the ineffectiveness of political pressures and inattention to the repeated calls on Tel Aviv to stop the genocidal war in Gaza.

It should be noted that even some of the European countries have thought of revising their arms cooperation with the child-killer regime.

Reuters, quoting from two informed sources, reported that Paris has banned the presence of Israeli companies in the naval arms exhibition in France.

Yet, some other European allies, especially Germany and Britain, have stubbornly kept supporting the Zionist regime through continuation of sending weapons to the regime and even defending the horrific crimes of Israel in Gaza, particularly mass murdering of civilians.

In view of this, German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock's speech in the federal parliament on October 10, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Zionsit regime's genocidal war in Gaza, caused broad reactions.

During her speech, Baerbock claimed that Hamas combatants are hiding among the civilians and at schools, and added, "Surely, defending oneself means to annihilate terrorists and not just attacking them."

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, condemned Baerbock's remarks on October 15 and warned against the legal consequences of supporting the regime which commits international crimes.

Moreover, while more than 100 labor councils in Britain have sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, calling for complete and immediate halting of weapons to the Zionist regime by London, the UK government persists in arms support for Israel.

Nevertheless, the global trend is going on the opposite direction to intensify sanctions against Israel.

According to Wall Street Journal, since the beginning of the Israeli war in Gaza after Operation al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, the sanctions movement against the regime has greatly changed. The operation and the Gaza war have helped materialize some of the goals of the movement and the companies supporting Palestine.

Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) movement is the name of the international campaign to pressure the Zionist regime. This movement was set up in 2005 with the support of 171 Palestinians and has attracted many sympathizers from all over the world, including Europe and the US. The Zionist regime Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said on the movement that it aims at destruction of Israel.

Now, one year after the Gaza war, with the spread of sanctions against Israel even to the Western countries including Europe, America and Canada, the nightmare of the Zionist leaders on intensive isolation of the regime has come true.
