Atwan: Mahmoud Abbas is an accomplice to Israel / Was Hamas around when Deir Yassin massacre occurred?
Abdel Bari Atwan, a prominent analyst of the Arab world, referred to Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, as an accomplice of Israel and a major traitor, citing his use of foul language against Hamas and the resistance in Gaza.
In an article referring to the recent attack by Mahmoud Abbas, head of the West Bank's self-governing body, against Hamas and the resistance, Abdel Bari Atwan wrote: “Mahmoud Abbas insulted Hamas and its fighters who have endured for over a year and a half, thwarting Israeli plans in Gaza and bringing pride to the Arab and Islamic world with their heroic resistance and operations.”
According to Pars Today, quoting IRNA, Atwan emphasized in this article: "Leadership is not about using foul language or colluding with occupying enemies and justifying their massacres; it is achieved through resistance and martyrdom."
Atwan pointed out the empty promises Abbas has made and how he stands idly by while children are being massacred in Gaza without taking action. He said: "Worst of all, you hold Hamas responsible, not the Zionist butchers whose hands are stained with blood. You want hostages to be released, while thousands of Palestinian prisoners have already been freed from the occupiers' jails through the actions of resistance and Hamas."
This analyst continued: "We tell Abbas that Israel does not need hostages as an excuse to commit massacres and genocide in Gaza; were there any Hamas militants around when the 'Deir Yassin' or 'Sabra and Shatila' massacres occurred in Lebanon? At that time, it was Fatah, the movement you lead, which existed back then."
The editor-in-chief of Rai Al-Youm, addressing Abbas, added: "The killers who committed these massacres are your partners in the Oslo Accords, which was one of humanity’s greatest betrayals, and you were the architect of that agreement. The 60,000 forces under your command, wearing the name of Palestine, protect the occupiers and the settlers, not the Palestinians."
This analyst concluded by writing: "The true representatives of the Palestinian people are not Abbas and the Central Council that hurls insults at Hamas without protest. Rather, they are the men of resistance and the martyrs of Gaza, led by martyr Yahya Sinwar, who spent 23 years behind the bars of the occupying criminal regime’s prisons, reaching the honor of martyrdom after enduring three days without food, according to the occupiers themselves who examined his body. This is the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people."
