  • NATO dangerous plots / NATO priority: warmongering, not peace

Pars Today - Robert F. Kennedy J., US presidential candidate, said that the top priority for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is not peace-keeping but warmongering.

Nowadays, NATO member states are holding a session in the US concurrent with the 75th anniversary of foundation of this military coalition; a coalition whose criminal and interventionist performance has been demonstrated in Yugoslavia, Serbia, Libya, Afghanistan and now Ukraine and, presently, it is seeking to expand its presence towards the east. According to Pars Today, this year's NATO summit in Washington has coincided with numerous political and military crises, from the persistence of the Ukraine war to the US presidential election and the emergence of the extremist rightists in Europe.

NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, believes that expansion of NATO and opening the door to other countries "isn't a clear and easy decision" due to the concern and fear of confronting Russia.

During a three-day session on July 11 in Washington, Stoltenberg, referring to the war in Ukraine, made it clear, "This war is the greatest security crisis through generations. The greatest expense and danger will be the victory of Russia in the war. In addition, NATO's support for Ukraine is accompanied with likely expenses and dangers and basically there are no safe and secure choices during the war."

On the other hand, Konstantin Gavrilov, the Russian chief negotiator in the Vienna talks, stressed that the current measures of the NATO member states will increase the risk of the clash between nuclear powers.

Jake Sullivan, US National Security Advisor, has just announced that the NATO will appoint a senior representative in Kiev for deepening of relations with this country.

These remarks are stated while Russia has warned several times against the expansion of the NATO-Ukraine ties.

John Mearsheimer, American political scientist and strategist, is of the opinion that the NATO expansion towards the Russian borders is originated in liberalist illusions and it is the main root cause of this war.

Meanwhile, Anatoly Antonov, Russian Ambassador in Washington, pointing to the current NATO summit in the US, said, "The United States and its satellite countries in the NATO summit are seeking the policy of expansion of militarism and continuation of tension in the region through blind support for Ukraine."

Antonov added, "This military treaty's summit in Washington is an emphasis on the offensive nature of the US and its allies and the imposition of their demands and goals on the world."

NATO keeps making allegations against others to survive at any price to the extent that its secretary general has recently accused China and some other countries of "supporting Russia" in the Ukrainian war.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman, Lin Jian, in reaction to Stoltenberg's allegation, said, "The so-called security of NATO is maintained at the price of other countries' security and the moves of this coalition have incurred very high security risks for the world and the region."

This Chinese diplomat added, "China is strongly opposed to the NATO allegations and attacks against Beijing and the intention of this coalition to blame others. With this pretext, NATO wants to use China to expand the coalition to the east towards the Asia-Pacific region and aggravate regional tensions."

It is quite clear that the NATO arms support for Ukraine will make war conditions more complicated in the country; the move whose repercussions have been warned several times by Russia.
