  • Ukraine war and Russia; from NATO measures to likely start of chemical attacks by Ukraine

Pars Today- Continuation of NATO supports for Ukraine against Russia, the effort to hold the second international summit of Ukraine prospect, prolongation of sanctions against some countries which don't comply with the US and the risk of chemical war are among the most important news of recent days related to the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

Continuation of Ukraine war and NATO members' support for Kiev

Ukraine war continues while the NATO member states continue supporting Ukraine in different ways. According to Pars Today, Western countries not only insist on continuation of Ukraine war, they also make the world politically bipolar more than ever. In view of this, the European Union prolonged Iran sanctions for another year with the allegation of Tehran's support for Moscow. The EU council in July 2023, with Iran's alleged military support for Russian special operation in Ukraine, had ratified sanctions against Iran targeting export of parts used for making drones.

Holding second international summit of Ukraine prospect

Ukraine announced that it is supposed to hold the second international summit of Ukraine prospect for peace in the coming months. Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that Kiev should be able to hold this summit. Zelensky said, "I have determined an aim to have a fully prepared program in November."

Last month, Ukraine held the first peace summit in Switzerland in which 92 representatives attended, but Russia as one side of the operation, was absent in the summit. Now, Russia has announced that it will not attend this summit and has no idea for it.

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, announcing Moscow's conditions for peace with Ukraine a while ago, said, "In spite of the Westerners' claim, Russia has not started this war as a special operation, but it was Kiev which started and continues hostilities."

Ukraine peace summit was held in Switzerland one month ago without any considerable achievement. The final statement of the summit had no specific solution for reaching peace.

Destruction of 13 Ukrainian drones over Russia

Russian defense ministry has informed of shooting down 13 Ukrainian drones in the Russian air. According to Sputnik, the Russian ministry of defense, informing destruction of 13 Ukrainian drones over Russia, accused Kiev of trying to launch terrorist attack with several drones from the soil of the Russian federation.

Part of the Russian defense ministry statement reads, "Air defense systems shot down 9 drones over Rostov, Bilgorod, Kursk, Voronizh, Black Sea and around the western coast of Crimean Peninsula."

US request of Ukraine not to attack deep into Russian soil

Matthew Miller, Spokesperson for US State Department, announced that Washington's prevention of Ukraine to attack deep into the Russian soil with the American weapons is a "proper step". Britain also announced a while ago that it has not allowed Kiev to use British missiles against Russia from the Ukrainian soil.

New stance of NATO on Ukrainian war

NATO secretary general announced that this alliance will not interfere directly in the Ukrainian conflict and it will limit its aids to the support for downing Russian fighters. Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, raised this issue after the Polish Deputy Defense Minister, Cezary Tomczyk, had asked about downing Russian missiles over Ukraine.

Stoltenberg said, "The alliance [NATO] will support Ukraine in shooting down the Russian warplanes, but it will not meddle in the conflict."

Concern over usage of chemical weapons by Ukraine

Vladimir Tarabrin, Russian permanent representative in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, stressed that Russia is no chemical threat for Ukraine. Tarabin also accused Kiev of notably increasing antidote, gas masks and other individual protection equipment more than their needs.

He said, "It seems that these provocative measures, in a greater scale, are for usage of chemical weapons by Ukraine." A senior Russian official had announced, a while ago, that the Ukrainian army systematically uses chemical weapons and there are a lot of documents and evidence that Ukrainian military forces have used poisonous materials such as chloropicrin and chloroacetophenone several times. This violation has been registered several times. Yet, the US has kept silent so far on these conditions.
