America concerned about multipolar world order / Russia, China, and Iran's efforts for a non-American order
Pars Today - Russia believes that the West is resisting efforts to create a more just and stable multipolar world order.
The world is transitioning to a new international system, learning from the failures of the Cold War era and unilateralism. According to Pars Today's analysis, the West, particularly the United States, is making every effort to prevent the world from joining a multipolar system.
On the other hand, leaders of Russia, Iran, and China, as well as emerging powers like Brazil and India, have expressed their desire for a multipolar order. Even key US allies are paying attention to this issue.
In an article for Schiller Institute, a German Institute for International and Security Affairs, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov wrote: "Russia supports the creation of a more just and stable multipolar order based on the UN Charter and the principle of sovereign equality of states."
According to Antonov, this approach is gaining more supporters in the international community, and countries are seeking to eliminate the remnants of colonialism.
The Russian diplomat emphasized: "The Western collective is still resisting these efforts and trying to maintain its grip on power and its status as the 'arbiter of fate' for others."
On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg: "We understand that the formation of a global order that takes into account the real balance of power, new geopolitical, economic, and demographic realities is a complex and difficult process."
Putin noted that the efforts of BRICS members and other developing countries are facing strong resistance from the ruling elites of the world, or the "golden billion."
It is clear that the West, led by the United States, is using force, unilateral sanctions, selective application of trade laws, and extortion in the international arena, contrary to international law principles.
In general, US leaders do not have a positive view of a multipolar world, preferring to maintain their unparalleled power and influence.
In 1991, the US government of George H. W. Bush, prepared a defense strategy that aimed to prevent the emergence of rival powers anywhere in the world. Later, strategic security documents published by Republicans and Democrats emphasized the need to maintain US dominance.
In this regard, the National Interest magazine warned: "The United States must prepare for a world where power will replace liberal ideals, and the West must develop new rules in coordination with countries like China and middle powers that have contributed to the global order."
This issue has not escaped the attention of social media users. For example, Milad Azizi wrote on X: "The world will soon host a multipolar system in the form of emerging and developed powers. Recent developments in West Asia, Eastern Europe, and other parts of the world have changed the dependence of governments on the current hegemon and created multilateral dependencies for new and developing countries."
One of the key players in breaking the Western order and transitioning to a multipolar system is Iran. According to Seyyed Abbas Ahmadi, a user on X, Iran is one of the powers in the multipolar world.
He wrote: "America does not want to start a new global order, and the continuation of American dictatorship will have consequences for the world. A unipolar world is not justifiable in any form. Iran has chosen to be one of the global powers in the new multipolar world."
Another user on X, recalling Iran's power in the region and pushing back against the West, also wrote: "The gradual decline of America, its withdrawal from Afghanistan, the failure to subdue Russia, and the emergence of BRICS... all indicate that a multipolar world is taking shape. If we stick to a unipolar view, we will make a strategic mistake. Iran can use this opportunity to maintain its power in the region and gradually push back against the West."
According to experts, one of the main reasons for imposing sanctions on Iran is to counter its growing power in the new non-American order. However, despite acknowledging the return of a multipolar world, the Biden administration seems to still be stuck in the past when America was unrivaled. Therefore, the US leadership is determined to defeat Russia in the Ukraine war to reduce Moscow's power in the future and is also trying to slow down China's growth by limiting Beijing's access to critical technology, prolonging the transition to a non-American order.
